HTC touts early Flyer sales, promises NFC-equipped phone within a year

It’s still not dishing much in the way of specifics, but it looks like HTC is at least cautiously optimistic about the success of its Flyer tablet — or, as the company’s top exec in Europe, Florian Seiche, place it at a recent Reuters summit: “it’s early days but we feel very excellent about it.” Seiche also unsurprisingly talked up tablets in general, and said that he thought schools would “probably” shift from textbooks to tablets in “five years’ time,” adding that “we can’t even guess the potential” in terms of the broader impact on society. Naturally, he also suggested that HTC plans to tap into that growing market with a whole range of new tablets beyond the Flyer. In terms of smartphones, Seiche said that HTC will be rolling out its first NFC-equipped phone within the next twelve months, and he reaffirmed the company’s commitment to Windows Phone 7, which he expects will see a boost from Nokia (which he says will in turn benefit HTC). Microsoft launches StreetView rival in Europe

Microsoft extends street to Europe – which is equivalent Bing with Google Maps Street View. Microsoft is already mapping service London and their applications will be different from Street View in terms of privacy and scale.

Microsoft has partnered with NAVTEQ (one of the fantastic info mapping providers and a subsidiary of Nokia) for this project, clearly one advantage to do with Nokia. Street is already available in some U.S. cities (and several Canadian cities), but now, Microsoft has set foot in Europe. Mapping are already moving to London and other European cities next month. At this stage in the Wi-Fi-only version of Motorola Xoom is unlikely to raise any eyebrows, it leaked a lot of time. But, prices and availability of parts that came with the official announcement, more than welcome . Now the excellent news is that budget-minded version of Xoom in less than 10 days away – Motorola said that it should in stores March 27 . Not so excellent part is that even with a 3G radio removed, hundreds of working-pill costs $ 600 for the 32GB version. If you are interested, Wi-Fi-only Xoom will be available through “both online and in difference shop channel, so getting one should not be hard if you live in the U.S.. We have not seen yet, when Motorola will bring this thing in Europe .
